Completing your match on time and entering your match scores as soon as possible makes the AGL fun and competitive for all! Players who consistently no show on matches or consistently do not complete matches without contacting the AGL Customer Support Center will be suspended from league play.
Registration
Once registered for the Atlanta Golf League, members will receive an email with their username and password. Members can then go online and personalize their username and password for future use. With an AGL login/password combination, members will be able to access their individual Player Profile Page. The Player Profile Page will serve as the hub of the AGL experience and will include information such as: name, preferred golf course, picture, upcoming schedule, current season results, links to enter scores, current and historical statistical results. The Atlanta Golf League will flight and bracket all players within one week of a season's start date. Once Atlanta Golf League has flighted and bracketed the league, each player profile page will be automatically updated with their flight, bracket and schedule. Click here to see registration dates.
Scheduling
The Atlanta Golf League will have 3 seasons each year- Spring, Summer, and Fall. Each season is ten (10) weeks long. Schedules will be located on their Player Profile Page along with start and end dates for each scheduled match. Members have two weeks in which to complete each of their five (5) scheduled matches. However, if members want to play their matches ahead of schedule and their opponents agree to it, they are welcome to do so. To maintain privacy, only the member and his or her opponents will be able to view contact information. Members will be provided with their opponents email and primary phone number and if necessary a secondary phone number. Contact must be made five (5) days prior to the start of each match so that matches can be scheduled in advance without worrying about tee time availability and an agreeable time for both members to play.
To ensure tee time availability, members must schedule all matches at least five (5) days in advance of their match start date at the agreed upon golf course. If there is a dispute about where to play the match, the designated home course player has the final say. The AGL asks its members to be flexible with course scheduling and considerate of their opponents' needs and limitations.
Members have the choice of playing a 9 or 18 hole match. If there is a disagreement over the number of holes to be played, the AGL rule will be to play only 9 holes. This is to ensure that all AGL members are given the flexibility of time needed to complete all matches. It is critical for all members to complete all matches to ensure a fair and accurate league. It is unfair to all members if matches are not completed.
The 9-hole option and the two week scheduling period provide AGL members with the most scheduling flexibility of any Amateur Golf Organization.
Tees Played
Since all AGL matches will be played with opponents of similar ability, ladies should play from the forward or Ladies' tees and Men may play any tee they agree upon, except the forward or Ladies' tees. If opponents, cannot agree on which tees to play, then the tees closest to the pin will be selected. When entering scores into the AGL website, the player must select the proper tees played. By using the USGA determined course rating to calculate the AGL adjusted scoring average, the AGL is able to create a level playing field across all flights! (see example below)
Example : There are 4 AGL members playing 2 separate matches in the same flight. Match 1 decides to play the blue tees while Match 2 decides to play the white tees (nearer the pin). At first glance, it would appear unfair to the members in Match 1, because they are playing more difficult tees. However, the course rating for the tees nearer the pin will always be less than the course rating for the tees further from the pin. Let's say the course rating is 74 from the blue tees and 72 from the white tees. If members in Match 1 shoot the same score, for instance 88, and members in Match 2 shoot the same score, an 86, all 4 members will have the exact same adjusted scoring average for the match, 82. Using the course rating to calculate the adjusted scoring average, the AGL ensures that members playing separate tees on the same course in the same flight are all treated fairly!
Make-up week
Members are allowed a one week extension to complete each match. However, this week is not designed for a player who has not made an effort to contact or get back to their opponent to play a match. All scores must be submitted by the end of the make-up week or else both players will be defaulted.
Because the Atlanta Golf League understands the unpredictability of today's world, the AGL offers a make-up week for each match to ensure utmost flexibility.
Reporting Scores
It is the "home course" member's responsibility to report the match scores online within the published time period. Just go to your Player Profile Page, click on the match completed and follow the links to enter scores into an electronic scorecard for the course played. Late scoring entries will not be accepted. If this is a problem, make sure to contact the away player and have them enter the scores.
For any escalated scoring entry issues, please contact the AGL Customer Support Center at info@atlantagolfleague.com .
Can't Contact Opponent
Both players need to make an effort to contact each other (5) days prior to the match's start date. If an opponent does not respond to a member's attempts to contact, then the member can "forfeit" his or her opponent. To enforce a forfeit, a member must attempt to contact an opponent at least 3 times at all phone numbers and email addresses provided. Members must give their opponents (7) days past the start date of the match to respond before enforcing a forfeiture.

Divisions
The AGL offers (3) Divisions- Men's, Women's and Senior Men's.
Flights
The AGL will flight all members within 1 week of each season's start date. A member's flight will be determined by his or her sex and average score. It is critical to the enjoyment of all members to be as truthful as possible when entering your average score when you register for the AGL. Following the completion of a season, the member's AGL rating will determine which flight he or she will compete in during the next registered season. The AGL rating (like a handicap) prevents sandbagging! The number of members in each flight may vary.
The Atlanta Golf League's use of its proprietary rating system to flight its members ensures a competitive experience for all AGL members.
Brackets
The AGL will bracket all members within 1 week of each season's start date. All brackets will consist of 6 members. All members within each bracket will play each other once during the regular season. The brackets will be organized by a few factors. A member's residential address will be the number one factor that drives which bracket he or she is placed in. This is to ensure that all matches can be played close to home and cuts back on commute time to and from the course. When many members in one flight live near each other, the AGL will use the preferred course chosen and the cost per round (as selected during registration) to further determine a flight's brackets.
Atlanta Golf League strives to provide its members with the most convenient experience possible. Bracketing members based on geographic location is just one way that the Atlanta Golf League ensures a convenient experience for all.
Withdrawn Players
If for some reason a player has withdrawn from Atlanta Golf League during the season, then the remainder of their matches will result in forfeits and all remaining players on their schedule will be rewarded 5 points. Since no score will be submitted, their overall adjusted scoring average and statistics will be unaffected.
Course Selection
Both players should be able to come to a mutually agreed upon course to play. However, if this is not possible, then the designated home course player has the final say. The AGL asks its members to be flexible with course scheduling and be considerate of their opponents' needs and limitations.
Course and Retailer Discounts
Atlanta Golf League has and will continue to work hard to provide all members maximum discounts at golf courses and retailers. AGL members will receive their AGL card within 1 week of each season. To ensure discounts are given at participating courses and retailers, AGL members must present their card at the time of paying for their purchases and greens fees. There will be an AGL example card at all participating stores and courses. AGL is not responsible for discounts not received if AGL card is not presented at the time of paying for the round.
In addition to a very low $40 per season membership fee ($55 for new members), course and retail discounts for AGL members ensures the Atlanta Golf League is affordable to all!
Scoring and Scoring Entry
All AGL matches are stroke play . All rules and penalties will be in accordance with the USGA rules of golf. If there is a question or discrepancy, the AGL asks its members to play two balls. Upon completion of the round, the course pro should be consulted for the ruling. If the course pro cannot resolve a ruling issue, please contact info@atlantagolfleague.com for a final and official ruling. The home player is responsible for keeping score during the round on the course scorecard. The AGL advises each member to review each hole and sign the scorecard at the completion of a round to assure the utmost accuracy. Once a scorecard is reviewed and signed, the home player must enter the score online before the scoring entry deadline. The AGL has adopted the 9-stroke rule to ensure a convenient pace of play for all of its members. If after 8 strokes a member is not in the hole, the member must pick up his or her ball and record a 9 on the scorecard. The scoring entry system will not allow members to enter a score higher than 9 on any single hole.
The Atlanta Golf League strives to ensure convenience for its members, thus has implemented the 9 stroke rule to ensure a convenient pace of play.
Incomplete Matches
Incomplete Match Policy - If players have completed more than 9 holes but less than 18, players must take their 9 hole score and enter scores as a 9 hole match. If less than 9 holes are completed, players can either reschedule or record an agreed upon tie. If a tie is recorded, neither player will receive a score towards their adjusted scoring average.
Forfeits
There are a number of situations that can cause a forfeiture of an AGL match. If after (7) days you are unable to contact your opponent, that is cause for forfeiture. See Can't Contact Opponent for more details.
By forfeiting your opponent you will receive 5 points and your forfeited opponent will receive 0 points. Neither member's overall adjusted scoring average or statistics will be affected by a forfeiture.
The Atlanta Golf League strictly enforces its forfeit policy in order to ensure a competitive and exciting league.
Opponent Does Not Show Up
If an opponent arrives at a scheduled match more than (30) minutes late without contacting his or her opponent, then it is up to the "no show" to contact your opponent. It is, however, at the discretion of the member who showed up whether or not the match will be rescheduled or forfeited. See Forfeits for more details.
Inclement Weather
Please review the Incomplete Match Policy for rules regarding inclement weather. The AGL reserves the right to extend due dates of any of the 5 matches during a season should weather unduly affect the entire league.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Golf is a gentleman's/gentlewomen's game and we expect all of our members to act accordingly. Please report all acts of poor sportsmanship, i.e. verbal or physical abuse, cheating, etc. to the league office so we can take the appropriate action. We are unable to do anything about unreported behavior.
End of Season Tournament
The member that finishes at the top of his or her bracket by accumulating the most points will qualify for the end of season tournament. Members can also qualify for the end of season tournament through quality play resulting in a low adjusted scoring average.
The end of season tournaments will be held at top semi-private or public golf courses throughout metro Atlanta. There will be a small entry fee that will include greens fees, cart fees, prizes, awards and an after tournament party.
Your Commitment to Atlanta Golf League
All players are expected to uphold their commitment to Atlanta Golf League and the other players in their bracket by completing all of their scheduled matches and entering their completed scores in a timely manner into the AGL website. We treat our league play seriously and expect the same from our members.
AGL understands unforeseen things will happen, such as injuries and job transfers and will deal with them accordingly. However, if a member decides to quit and does not contact the league office, they will be removed from the Atlanta Golf League permanently.
Thank you for your commitment to the Atlanta Golf League! We hope you enjoy your experience! Feel free to provide feedback, advice, or comments to us by sending an email to info@atlantagolfleague.com .
