Until now, those who wish to play competitive golf must join expensive amateur golf tours which require extensive time commitments and force participants to travel to play a specific course at a specific time. And often, Amateur Golf Tours are targeted at only the best amateur players.
Now, golfers of any age, sex, or ability can play golf in an affordable, competitive and flexible format!
First, register online today. Then, the Atlanta Golf League will flight you according to your average score entered upon registration and bracket you based on your geographic location. After your first season with the AGL, you will be flighted based on league play using AGL's proprietary rating system.
Prior to the beginning of the season all Player Profile Pages will be updated with the current season's schedule. From here members can view opponent's contact information, match schedule, historical and current results and statistics, enter scores and update personal contact information.
The Atlanta Golf League offers 3 seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall). You may sign up for 1 season at a time and can play in as many or as few seasons as you want. See season dates. Each seasons's membership fee is $45.
You will have 10 weeks to complete 5 matches (1 match per 2 weeks). To ensure utmost flexibility, you and your opponent will determine the time, course and number of holes to play (9 or 18) for each match. There will be a home player for each match who will have the final say on match specifics. The home player will also be responsible for entering scores online by filling out an electronic scorecard selected from a list of every Metro Atlanta golf course.
All matches are one on one stroke play. Don't think that you have to play in a twosome! Many AGL members enjoy bringing friends to play with during their match and round out a foursome. Some members even round out a foursome with other AGL members who may or may not be playing a match of their own. When you complete a match and enter the results online, your Player Profile Page will be updated with your results and your statistics will be kept. For the first time ever you will have a website that will track how well you do on all par 3's, par 4's, par 5's, the total number of eagles, birdies, pars, and bogeys you have accumulated during stroke play.
Not only will you be able to view how well you are playing, but you will also be able to see how well you stack up against everyone else in your bracket and flight across the city with our leaderboard page. Here you will be able to see who is leading each of our statistical categories.
The goal of each match is to accumulate the most points possible. Earn the most points in your 6 player bracket and you will automatically qualify for the End of Season Tournament. Below is a table showing how points will be rewarded.

Another way to qualify for the End of Season Tournament is by accumulating a strong adjusted scoring average relative to other players in your flight. The adjusted scoring average is a unique handicapping system developed by the AGL. It is calculated by taking your score subtracting the course rating and then subtracting 4 from that if 18 holes were played and 2 if 9 holes were played. Using the course rating to compile an adjusted scoring average puts players on an equal playing field even though matches within a flight are played from different golf courses and different tees.
To ensure that all matches are competitive and played between members of similar ability AGL will have a rating system. The rating system is AGL's way of making sure you are in the proper flight. The rating is a calculation of points accrued and overall adjusted scoring average relative to your competition. After your first season, you will be flighted based on your previous season's rating. The course rating system effectively eliminates sandbaggers!
Points leaders within each bracket will automatically qualify for the End of Season Tournament while wildcard positions will be awarded to players who earn a strong adjusted scoring average relative to other competitors in their flight.
Play well during the regular season and gain entry into the End of Season Tournament where you can compete against the best golfers in the Atlanta Golf League. The End of Season Tournament is a great one day stroke play event that includes trophies, prizes, food and a lot of fun!
